Profile

Youp specialises in liability law and class actions. In addition, he has experience with corporate lawsuits. He advises and litigates in disputes, focusing on (international) commercial disputes and class actions. Youp has gained specific experience in the field of sanctions law and arbitration. He has a passion for procedural law, including private international law and attachment and execution law. He regularly publishes articles on these subjects.

During his studies, Youp worked at several leading law firms. He completed a master’s degree in private law and a master’s degree in European Law (cum laude) at Utrecht University, focusing on international commercial litigation. His thesis on the jurisdiction of courts in class actions for financial damages was nominated for the thesis prize awarded by the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law.

Before the founding of Finch in 2022, Youp was an attorney-at-law at Wijn & Stael. Furthermore, Youp is involved in a civil society organisation dedicated to affordable legal aid. For him, access to justice is a fundamental principle, both for individuals and in class action lawsuits.

The combination of – almost real time – strategic thinking and accurate practical support makes Finch a unique practice.
